Two titans of childrens entertaiment meet!

Farmer Jason and Elmo

Nashville Public Television in partnership with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting sponsored an event in Nashville on Feb. 10th at the War Memorial Auditorium to launch the new “Raising Readers” campaign. This program’s goal is to increase preschool literacy. Farmer Jason opened the festivities with a rousing mini-set of Get Up Up Up, Forest Rhymes, and a new song custom written for the program called Raising Readers. The Lt Governor Ron Ramsey was there, as well as Nashville Mayor Dean and many Senators and Representatives. However, upstaging all of them was an appearance by Elmo (the REAL Elmo)! Rumors are that Farmer Jason took Elmo around to the Nashville music clubs after the show, but we cannot confirm or deny this.

Farmer Jason Wins an Emmy on Jan. 24, 2009

Farmer Jason wins an Emmy

Farmer Jason wins an Emmy

Roughneck Music, Courageous Chicken Entertainment, Nashville Public Television, The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and Kid Rhino Records are proud to announce that the “IT’S FARMER JASON” PBS interstitial video program won the Emmy Award for Best Children’s Program Mid South Region at the 23rd Annual Mid South Regional Emmy Awards on January 24, 2009.  Given that the competition was big well-funded established programs, this was definitely a delightful surprise for all those pulling for Farmer Jason.  Jason himself had not even prepared an acceptance speech, but he thought one up quick enough!
